Dear Kindergarten Families, With April comes many fun spring activities andHere is an update on our last quarterweek of school. Your studentsParents are learningwelcome and encouraged to tell time byattend any and all of the hour and measure temperature changes with a thermometer. We have planted flower,bean and pea seeds and hopefully they will grow.Ha! We also made a crystal coal garden and a terrarium. We will soon be watching baby caterpillars change into butterflies. This weekevents. On Tuesday
and Thursday we will dye eggs and have an egg hunt as well as make Bunny cards for you. The Rigby Reading themes will cover America and Growing and Changing.
We will also be reviewing all the concepts we have learned this year to prepare for thesending home lots of end of the year testing. Keep up the good work of reading, writing and talking to your child about everything. Parents are the most important teachers!

Dear Kindergarten Families, Hooray! Spring is on the way! I think we are all ready for some warmer weather. March will be anotherWith April comes many fun spring activities and busy month for us. For Dr. Suess's birthday,Monday,our school is having a door decoration contestour last quarter of school. Thanksalso be scheduling May conferences for keeping up with the homework; it really helps. We also have a field trip to the Math and Science Center on March 31st. You willthose that need to add this to sign up for Summer School or Individual Learning Plans for next year. Dear Kindergarten Families, For February our themesHooray! Spring is on the way! I think we are all ready for some warmer weather. March will be Valentine's Day, President's Day, Familiesanother fun and Friends. We will set upbusy month for us. For Dr. Suess's birthday,Monday,our school is having a Post Office in the room to encourage writingdoor decoration contest and role playing.a read-in at 3:00. We will work on identifying coinshad great fun decorating our door. Our theme is Horton Hears a Who! and bills by talking about the President's faces on them. Using our Rigby Reading Program we willkids made elephants that cover our door and part of the responsibilities and jobswall. You'll have to come check it out. They are really cute. Also, on that family members have. Weday the kindergarten classes will also cover what it meansbe doing Dr.Suess activities in each class and rotating from room to be a friend. Now that we have covered all the alphabet lettersroom like we did for Christmas. Our class will be reading The Cat in the Hat,playing a rhyming game and making alphabet books as a review. For our Valentine Party we have a fun day planned. Wemonth will be joining our 3rd Grade Reading Buddies for some Valentine gamesinclude Spring Weather, St. Patrick's Day and card exchanges. Our theme forSolar System. We will continue sending the daylittle books home. Your support is Teddy Bears. So please send a teddy bear to school with your child (or any stuffed animal).paying off. We will do activities withsee nice improvements in the bears during the daystudents reading and then return them to you atwriting skills. Keep up the end of the day. Also please send Valentine cards for your child to give out to classmates. We have 21 students in our class. The students will be decorating boxes to hold all their "mail". Dear Kindergarten Families, Happy New Year Everyone! Brrrrrr...It is cold! WeFor February our themes will be integrating a Winter theme into all our curriculum areas.Valentine's Day, President's Day, Families and Friends. We will make snowmen, snowflakesset up a Post Office in the room to encourage writing and snow pictures.role playing. We will experiment with waterwork on identifying coins and ice,sinkingbills by talking about the President's faces on them. Using our Rigby Reading Program we will cover the responsibilities and floating and even make some fake snow.jobs that family members have. We will also cover what it means to be writing and reading about these things as well. Wea friend. Now that we have some fun winter math games also.
Report cards go home next week and I am so pleased withcovered all the progress studentsalphabet letters we will be making alphabet books as a review. We are making.also starting to encourage more independent writing. We still have much workwill expect students to do,however,to get everyone reading at a level 3 on the DRA(reading assessment) by the endwrite their own sentences and sound out words for spelling. Of course drawing is still part of the year. With your help, I knowwriting experience at this level too.
